Sidewalk to be Extended in 2007

About Sidewalk
Ms. Adams,
Thank you for your interest in the proposed sidewalk/greenway on
NW Cary Parkway
from
Thorpe Drive
to
Silveridge Court
. The Engineering Department has reviewed the sight distance needed for pedestrians to cross NW Cary Parkway safely and determined that it would be safe to cross at Silveridge Court. There is a plan to put in a curb cut at the corner of
NW Cary Parkway
and
Silveridge Court
, and one north of this location on
NW Cary Parkway
as a part of the sidewalk project. This will allow for pedestrians to cross the street and continue to their destination at
North
Cary
Park
.
The sidewalk request that has been approved for 2007 is the segment of sidewalk from
NW Cary Parkway
from
Thorpe Dr.
to
Silveridge Court
. If you would like to make an additional sidewalk request, you may contact Juliet Andes with the Planning Department at 462-2008. I have copied her in on this email if you wish to respond to her directly.
Connecting the proposed sidewalk to the Blackcreek Greenway Trail would be very difficult due to the steep terrain. The Town of
Cary
owns the parcel of land adjacent to the Silveridge Community. The Parks and Recreation Department may have future plans for greenway trail connections and/or developing a park in this area. If you would like more information, please contact Doug McRainey at 460-4973. I have also copied him in on this email if you wish to respond to him directly.
After you speak with the Parks and Recreation Department and you wish to further pursue contributing financially to extending the sidewalk/greenway, we would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss the matter further.
